We have had the pleasure of applying our creativity, technical knowledge and extraordinary approaches to projects in a variety of different market areas. Designing for government or educational clients or for local non-profit groups, we incorporate good design and planning into each project.

Nassau County Juvenile Detention Center was originally built in 1955 and then expanded and renovated to 43 beds in 1978. Karlsberger was selected by the County of Nassau to perform an investigation/conditions assessment report and to perform design and construction administration services for the new major renovation of the juvenile detention center.

The project included total preservation of exterior historic and landmark envelope and expansion and renovation of interior spaces. The intent of our current work is to renovate the facility to accommodate 21st century programs and technical requirements while preserving the historic integrity of this important New York landmark.

Battelle Hall is the main exhibit and event space built as part of the original Convention Center. Karlsberger lead a team to significantly update and enhance the visual and functional aspects of Battelle Hall and the main connector to the north facility of the Convention Center where most of the exhibit hall, meeting room, and ballroom space of the Convention Center are housed today.

The Rose M. Singer Center is an 800-bed women’s institution providing minimum, medium and maximum security housing for detainees and sentenced adolescents and adults. The facility features a central outdoor recreational courtyard surrounded by administrative areas, inmate program access and support service functions.

The 120th Precinct Stationhouse is a 70,000 sf facility that serves as a community resource, the Precinct Headquarters, and the Central Booking Facility for all Staten Island precincts, providing overnight prisoner accommodation.

The George R. Vierno Center is an 853-bed, maximum security correctional facility for men. This project was based on pre-engineered buildings and was fast tracked for early completion with a significant savings for the City of New York.

Columbus City Schools selected the Karlsberger Cuningham team to relocate the Arts IMPACT Middle School to the historical Fort Hayes Campus as part of their district master plan implementation. Home to 525 students in grades 6-8, the Middle School now joins the Arts IMPACT High School and the Fort Hayes Career Center in their focus on using the arts to enhance teaching and learning through the alignment of art and education.

Karlsberger was selected for the renovation and expansion of the historic 1932 Bronx Detention Complex project, which included a newly secured entry, Central Control Room, Chapel, Mosque, clinic, and renovations of existing inmate cells, showers and toilets.

The James A. Thomas Center (JATC), constructed in 1933, is the oldest maximum security correctional facility on Rikers Island, New York. The City of New York selected Karlsberger to provide design services for the major renovation and upgrade of the building over two phases.
